Background and Partner Organisation

The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a programme for the prevention of violence and the promotion of peace in crisis and conflict regions. As a seconded professional in the CPS, you will collaborate with partner organisations that advocate for social justice, peace, and the protection of human rights, and that are actively engaged in national networks to strengthen sustainable processes of social transformation. The CPS takes a three-pronged approach: preventative, through early conflict detection; de-escalatory, in times of acute crisis; and supportive, in the reconstruction of peaceful and resilient structures.

The local partner organisation is CCC, an alliance of civil society organisations committed to sustainable peacebuilding, social justice and inclusive participation. Together with its 200 member organisations, the CCC acts, collaborates and advocates as a network to strengthen its initiatives and promote joint strategies for peaceful conflict transformation. The network's identity is shaped by feminist peacebuilding, diversity, and a critical approach to power relations.

Based on this, CCC supports its member organisations in creating spaces for dialogue, promoting peaceful conflict transformation and strengthening social cohesion in Cambodia. The member organisations are active in an environment that is becoming increasingly challenging for civil society actors. It is all the more important to support them in keeping their positive impact on society.

For this task, CCC is looking for a professional to support its member organisations in coordinating their peace-promoting activities, creating collective orientations and strengthening shared strategic lines. There will be a particular focus on integrating gender-just perspectives and empowering women in their roles as key peacebuilders. The professional will also support the organisations in enhancing their conceptual approaches and building on their existing technical strengths — with the aim of fostering empowerment processes within the organisations.

Our partner organisation CCC's office is in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with professional colleagues and partner organisations of the CCC to carry out the strategy for peace promotion – with a particular emphasis on feminist viewpoints, gender equality and the encouragement of female participation
  • Assisting member organisations in advancing their professional, organisational and conceptual approaches to strengthen empowerment processes and enable them to independently and effectively design their peace-promoting work
  • Contributing to studies and analyses of current peace policy issues to make knowledge accessible and promote shared reflection
  • Recording and documenting the impact of peace-promoting activities systematically to make results visible and enable improvements
  • Strengthening the exchange, solidarity and mutual support between CCC and its member organisations, especially in Thailand and Vietnam, is the aim of this project, which will promote regional networking
  • Contributing to the introduction and use of digital tools that facilitate collaboration and support the peace-promoting work of member organisations

Your Profile

To ensure these tasks are completed successfully, CCC is looking for candidates with the following profile:

  • A completed university degree (at least a Bachelor's) in Conflict and Peace Research or a comparable social science subject is required
  • Proven ability to collaborate with civil society organisations, initiatives or community groups, ideally in a consultative, coordinating or facilitative role
  • Routines for setting up workshops, training sessions, dialogue formats and other spaces where people cooperate together to find solutions
  • Competence and practical experience in peace promotion, conflict resolution, gender justice or empowerment, for example through projects, non-governmental organisation involvement, research or education
  • Basic experience in monitoring, documenting or structured evaluation of projects or activities
  • Intercultural skills, for example acquired through teamwork in international groups, volunteering or long-term stays in other countries
  • Proficiency in English for professional purposes, as well as familiarity with the Khmer language, would be an asset
  • Readiness and eagerness to travel regularly to the region is essential. These visits play a key role in the direct collaboration with partner organisations, offering valuable insights into local peace initiatives.
  • We are looking for internationally experienced candidates. For this role, a minimum of 5 years proven working/ living experience outside of Cambodia is required.

The target group for this programme is people who enjoy working in a structured way, who are happy to collaborate with different teams and who take pleasure in the idea of strengthening the ability of organisations to act. Women and individuals who align with feminist and gender-equitable perspectives are particularly encouraged to apply.
